A single adult flea will lay 50 eggs per day adding up to 2000 eggs in its lifespan
People think fleas lay there eggs on the carpet and soft furnishings but they don’t, the host is where they lay them (which is your cat or dog ) the eggs will then fall off onto where ever the host has been and hatch.
Fleas in your home are almost always cat fleas even if you don’t have a cat, fleas are not fussy who’s blood they feed on and can detect vibration and carbon dioxide ( which we breath out ) so any sound or scent they detect means ( food ) so will jump in that direction and can leap up too 12 inches high,
So its not just a case of treating your pet. The most important treatment is the whole area as its only the adults which live on your pet ( host ) meaning all the eggs are maturing in your carpet and soft furnishing or anywhere your pet has been so if this is not done the infestation will start all over again very quickly.
The Procedure
After making sure your pets have been treated for fleas which is critical and all there bedding washed or replaced, we would then carry out an application of a residual insecticide which only professionals can buy, the insecticide sits on all surfaces which the fleas come into contact with and kills them and the eggs and keeps working for many weeks after being applied. After application the premises would have to be vacated for at least 2 hours.
